Back Links and Site Promotion

In order to have one’s website become a popular site, a webmaster has to engage in what is called site promotion. Getting the word out about your website, after you’ve built it, is the next most important thing a site creator has to do.
In order to get the word out, there are a number of ways to achieve this. Some are free, some cost a little bit of capital, and others cost a good deal of money.
One of the easiest, and best, no to low cost ways to increase traffic, and website search engine rankings, is through the building of back links to your site. By placing targeted, keyword rich, back links to your site, on as many related websites as possible, a webmaster can virtually assure high search engine results (rankings), and can see a corresponding increase in their website traffic as well.
The reasons for this are more than a few, but the main (and most important) one is this. When the search engines crawl the internet, looking for content, the more links a site has to it, the better. The search engines look at these links as something akin to votes. The more votes a site has, the more likely the site is something that the searcher, based on the keywords input into the search engine query form, is looking for, and the search engines have “learned” this.
An example would be a person looking for sites related to purple widgets. More likely, sites talking about red or blue widgets would not be what the searcher is looking for, and these sites wouldn’t have much content related to purple widgets. However, a competing site about purple widgets, besides having content about widgets that are purple, might have a forum, or a blog, where people leave comments, and these comments can sometimes have links in them. If the folks leaving linked comments, link to another “related” site, the search engines see this, and count this as a back link. Future visitors see these links too, and may visit them, and if the content at the linked site is good, may choose to bookmark (for their friends) your site.

Hey, I wanted to tell you thanks for posting this and also I wanted to tell you that I can’t seem to get your site to work in Internet Explorer for some reason. However, if I switch over to Firefox which I don’t normally use, everything seems to work ok. It might be a problem with one of the plugins you use, or maybe it’s something wrong on my end.

Promotion needs to concentrate on the unique selling point / differentiator of the product you are selling, so this would be promotion through media (the choice of which depends on place ? ie internet, leaflets, direct sales force, tv etc etc) with a strong emphasis on the reliability, durability and quality of the desk drawer slide ? heavily focussing on the life of the product compared to cheaper ones; a ?lifespan? comparison could show the cheaper one to be a false economy both in cost and effort of replacement, so this could communicate it quite well.Hope this helps

I have heard the 90/10 rule works best, but the point is, whether its 80/20 or 90/10 or 75/25 doesn?t matter as much as how VALUABLE is the CONTENT you are delivering 
If you follow 99/1 and your 99% content is irrelavant, untimely, and just plain valueless to your readership, you really don?t have a 99/1 ratio 
Too many people are willing to take a shot at banking fast and “pain free” money online these days, either through selling on eBay, affiliate marketing, ppc adverstising

Thanks for a few sensible writing here. I started my own blog in September of this year because my own home remodeling business is so slow. My wife’s work friends suggested I should begin writing about home tips in the slow months to supplement our income. I am giving it a shot, although its not as smooth for me as swinging a hammer

Hello. This is kind of an “unconventional” question , but have other visitors asked you how get the menu bar to look like you’ve got it?
